The St. Mary’s grade 7 class has a chance to win a trip to Ottawa but, we can’t win without all of your help. In September, we learned about residential schools, and we wanted to share what we learned with our community of Estevan. We bought a variety of orange colored items such as; candles, flowers and candies to name a few. These items would be gifts to those we met in the community and helped us initiate conversation with the public. We felt it is so important that we honor the memory of all the indigenous children who went to residential schools, survived or were lost, and to promote that every child matters. Our goal was to raise awareness, in hopes that next year our whole community takes part in Orange Shirt Day in September 30th. This contest is showcasing the project we did.
